Egypt's Foreign Minister will head to the United States on Wednesday on a one-week visit to participate in an Arab-American ministerial meeting to revive the peace process in the Middle East.

Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr will commence his visit with a high-level debate organised by the United Nations' General Assembly on settling armed conflicts in Africa.

The debate will be held at the United Nations' headquarters in New York on April 25, Amr Roshdi, spokesman for Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told the Middle East News Agency.

The minister will present Egypt's vision on dealing severely and effectively with armed conflicts in Africa, especially in light of Egypt's active membership in the African Union Security and Peace Council.

After his visit to New York, the minister will head to Washington D.C. to take part in an Arab peace initiative committee next Monday.

The Arab parties in the committee will convene on Sunday, a day before they meet with American Secretary of State John Kerry.

These discussions will focus on ways to revive the peace process in order to restore the legitimate rights of Arabs.
