CAIRO, Nov. 6 (Aswat Masriya) – Egypt’s meteorological authority expects "unstable weather" conditions to prevail in the next few days as the death toll rises in coastal and delta cities in the aftermath of flash floods. 

A total of 17 people were killed and 28 injured in Beheira and Gharbiya provinces, with the lion share of casualties recorded in Beheira, said the Health Ministry on Thursday.

On Friday morning, a child and a woman were killed when two buildings collapsed in the coastal city of Alexandria, while 10 other buildings collapsed in the province of Beheira due to bad weather conditions.   

Partial damage occurred in one of the buildings leading to the death of a child and the injury of another person as a result of bad weather conditions, said head of Alexandria security directorate Ahmed Hegazy.

The heavy rainfall led to the collapse of another building, killing a woman as a result, Hegazy added.

Residents of al-Amriya district, west of Alexandria, have blocked Alexandria desert road to protest the total flooding of the area as a result of heavy rainfall for three days.

Similarly, the Delta city of Beheira witnessed the collapse of 10 buildings Friday morning because of the weather, but no casualties were recorded.
