CAIRO, Jan 25 (Aswat Masriya) – The Giza governor said that the fire which broke out on Sunday at the Haram district building in Giza was "under control", state television reported.

Protesters set the building ablaze earlier, Magdy al-Shalqami, the head of the Giza civil protection authority said.

Shalqami told Aswat Masriya that protesters pelted the building with Molotov cocktails. He added that the building's first floor was burnt.

Sunday marks the fourth anniversary of the January 2011 uprising which toppled the regime of former President Hosni Mubarak.

Sixteen people were killed and 38 others were injured nationwide on Sunday, state television reported, citing the health ministry.

At least ten of the deaths, and 17 of the injuries took place in Matariya district alone, east of Cairo, Khaled al-Khatib, head of the health ministry's critical care unit said in a statement.

Sunday marks the fourth anniversary of the January 2011 uprising.

Mursi's banned Muslim Brotherhood has been rallying for protests nationwide to commemorate the anniversary. A 17-year old girl was killed during a Brotherhood protest in Alexandria on Friday.

In anticipation of protests, security measures across Cairo have been heightened, specifically around major squares.

Tahrir square, located in Downtown Cairo, is considered one of the symbols of the uprising. Military vehicles have been situated at the entrances of the square and on roads leading to it, state-run MENA reported.
