CAIRO, Aug 19 (Aswat Masriya) - Three people died on Tuesday from the brutal heat Egypt has recently been experiencing, the Ministry of Health said, which brings the death toll from the heat to at least 108.

Additionally, 191 people were hospitalised for heat-related fatigue, 109 of whom were released, the ministry said in a statement to state television on Wednesday.

The injured included 53 from the Upper Egypt governorate of Sohag alone.

Egypt has been hit by scorching heat this summer. The temperature has soared well above 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) in some parts of the country.

There have been daily reports of deaths since August 9, mostly of senior citizens.

The Health Ministry has repeatedly warned senior citizens and people with chronic diseases, calling on them to avoid direct exposure to sunlight, particularly at noon and to take protective measures.
