The Salafi Nour Party welcomed a law that fights conflict of interest of state officials, adding that the law is a positive step on the path to reforming the state.

Egypt's presidency on Thursday issued a law that combats conflict of interest of state officials.

This law plugs "one of the legislative loopholes that allowed using public office to make illicit gains".

The new law is a positive step to eliminate the corruption that ran rampant in the whole state, party spokesman Sherif Taha said.

Taha urged the government to decree more of these laws instead of focusing on laws that restrict freedoms.
