30 arrested in sectarian violence incidents - MIO

Egypt's Interior Ministry said on Saturday it arrested 15 more persons who were involved in the sectarian violence that broke out last week in the Khusus town, northeast of Cairo.

Making the total number of perpetrators arrested in relation to the secartarian clashes reach 30.

The ministry said, in a statement published on its official page, that the detained persons were captured while in possession of weapons, adding that they will be transferred to the prosecution promptly.

The ministry captured on Friday nine people who were involved in the clashes that erupted at the Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Cairo last Sunday, leading to the death of two persons.

The clashes broke out at the church in Abbasiya on Sunday during the funeral of Copts who were killed in sectarian violence in Qaliubiya's Khusus last Friday.

Qaliubiya's sectarian clashes had left five persons dead, three houses burned down and three cars vandalized.
