CAIRO, Dec 19 (Aswat Masriya) - Unidentified assailants killed a police officer late Thursday in the Nile Delta province of Beheira, police sources said.
The assailants were driving a motorbike when they opened fire at the officer, who was leaving his friend's house. The officer was shot in his abdomen, killing him on the spot.
Militants have stepped up attacks targeting the army and police across Egypt, particularly in Sinai, since the military's ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in July 2013 following mass protests against his rule.
