CAIRO, Dec 21 (Aswat Masriya) Thirty seven people were injured in clashes on Friday but no deaths occurred, Egypt’s Ministry of Health has said.

Twenty one people have been released from the local hospitals were they were admitted while 16 remain hospitalied as they require further medical attention, the state news agency said.

The confrontations took place in Cairo, Giza, Suez and Sharqia.

The National Alliance to Support Legitimacy and Oppose the Coup had called for demonstrations on Friday against a newly drafted constitution.

The alliance was formed to support President Mohamed Mursi who was ousted by the army in July in response to mass demonstrations across the country.

Egyptians will vote on a new constitution next month, but the Muslim Brotherhood and several other Islamist groups will boycott the referendum.
