CAIRO, Aug 21 (Aswat Masriya) The Red Sea touristic city of Marsa Alam has become a part of Luxor, the Upper Egypt's governor announced on Thursday as reported by the state news agency MENA. 

Local Development Minister Adel Labib announced on Thursday that the borders of upper Egypt governorates will be changed, reducing the total area of the Red Sea governorate. 

Annexing Marsa Alam city to Luxor will expand its total area to 92 million acres, which is up to ten times and half of its current area and will make Luxor the biggest governorate, Tarek Saad Eldin, Luxor's governor, said. 

This step has followed studies within the government's plan to amend borders between governorates. 

A new road will be constructed to connect Luxor to Marsa Alam.
