CAIRO, June 25 (Aswat Masriya) An Egyptian court sentenced nine Azhar University students it said support the Muslim Brotherhood to five years in prison with labor on Wednesday, fining them 100,000 Egyptian pounds each, for riots on campus.
The defendants were accused of stirring chaos, assembling, belonging to a terrorist group whose purpose is to threaten national peace and order, resisting the authorities and vandalizing public property.
A number of universities have seen unrest since the ouster of President Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood last year.
Egypt's army toppled Mursi a year ago in response to mass demonstrations against his rule.
