CAIRO, Sept 12 (Aswat Masriya) - United States Secretary of State John Kerry will head to Cairo on Saturday after his visit to Turkey, U.S. Department of State spokesperson Jen Psaki said in a press statement.

"After visiting Ankara, Turkey, Secretary Kerry will travel to Cairo, Egypt to meet with senior Egyptian officials to discuss bilateral and regional issues of mutual concern," Psaki said.

Kerry will hold talks with Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry at 10:30 am on Saturday, followed by a joint press conference at 2 pm, Egypt's foreign ministry announced in a statement on Friday.

A delegation of United States officials had arrived in Cairo on Thursday to prepare for a visit by Kerry, reported the state-owned news agency MENA.

Kerry, the highest-ranking U.S. official to visit Egypt, was in Cairo last July to discuss the situation in Gaza and a ceasefire initiative proposed by Egypt.

This will be Kerry's third visit to Egypt since President Abdel fattah al-Sisi, the former army chief, was inaugurated president.
