CAIRO, Dec 10 (Aswat Masriya) - Egyptian authorities in Palestine are currently holding intensive meetings with Palestinian officials and advisors of President Mahmoud Abbas to explore means of pacification in Palestine, Egypt's ambassador in Palestine said on Wednesday.

The meetings will also study means to halt attacks, arrests, the deportation policy against Jerusalemites, and the demolition of houses, Wael Nasr eldin said, adding that Israeli policies in Jerusalem contradict article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which "prohibits the forcible transfer or deportation from occupied territory of protected persons".

Nasr eldin emphasised that Egypt stands with the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people, and with the Palestinian leadership heading to the United Nations to push for a specific time frame for ending the Israeli occupation.

A Palestinian minister died earlier on Wednesday after an Israeli border guard physically assaulted him during a protest in the West Bank.

Ziad Abu Ein was on the way to join a protest over the establishment of Jewish settlements alongside several Palestinian and foreign activists. Upon arrival at an Israeli checkpoint, they were confronted by Israeli soldiers who fired teargas at the protesters.
