All recent opinion polls show that 90 percent of the Armed Forces members urge Defence Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to act to protect the people and save the state's capabilities, Egypt's former deputy head of the Intelligence Apparatus Tharwat Gouda said.
Gouda urged the people to join the demonstrations on June 30 and call on the army to interfere.
During a meeting organised by the "Suez Lawyers' Coalition", Gouda said that these demonstrations are the last opportunity for the people to rectify the state's path.
"The Egyptian people's will is what governs us ... we are fully responsible for protecting it," Sisi said on Sunday.
He added that Egyptians have one week to reach consensus.
Gouda accused the former military council of making an agreement with the Muslim Brotherhood to enable them to rule Egypt.
History will judge former head of the Supreme Council for Armed Forces Hussein Tantawi harshly, Gouda added.
