Egypt's Minister of Interior, Mohamed Ibrahim, said on Sunday that his ministry has prepared an extensive security plan to ensure the safety of the demonstrations that are going to take place on June 30.

A number of political forces have called for demonstrations on June 30 outside the Ittihadiya presidential palace, to demand toppling the current Islamist government and holding early presidential elections.

The Interior Minister said that the plan relies on increasing security presence around all critical government buildings without harming peaceful protesters, in a statement reported by the state-owned news agency. 

Ibrahim called on the political forces that are staging these demonstrations to abide by peacefulness and uphold the public interest of the state by not allowing any assaults on public or private properties.

He stressed that the protesters will be faced with a strict application of law if they do not commit to the peacefulness of their protests.
