MIO: Unknown assailants fired at police and army to create strife

The Media Official for the Security Forces said on Monday that unknown assailants fired random gunshots at the police forces and the army assigned the secure Port Said, injuring a number of soldiers.

The Ministry of Interior issued a statement on its official page saying that firing gunshots at the police forces and the army at the same time aims at "creating strife and escalating the situation."

In its statement, The Ministry of Interior asked the people of Port Said to stay away from gatherings in the area of governmental buildings and police offices for their own safety.

An Aswat Masriya eyewitness said earlier that the police forces fired teargas bombs at armored vehicles that belong to the army.

He added that three army recruits were injured and transferred to the military hospital promptly.

The police forces have been firing live ammunition and teargas bombs on protesters since the morning.

Official Spokesman of the Health Ministry, Yehia Mousa, said that five persons were killed in Sunday's clashes whereas the Under Secretary of the Health Ministry, Helmi Al-Afni, told Reuters that there are four dead, two protesters aged 16 and 17 and two army recruits.
