CAIRO, Mar 2 (Aswat Masriya) - An individual injured earlier in an explosion outside the High Court Building in central Cairo died in hospital due to his wounds, state television reported, citing the Health Ministry spokesman.

This brings the death toll from the explosion to two, in addition to nine injuries, state television reported.

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded in front of the main gate of the High Court in central Cairo injuring 11, state television earlier reported.

The Cairo Security Director Khaled Youssef told Aswat Masriya that seven of the injured are security personnel.

Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat mandated a team of public prosecutors to "swiftly" investigate the explosion.

Late Monday, a sound bomb exploded outside the Nozha Police Station in Cairo's Heliopolis neighbourhood, causing no injuries, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

Another IED went off in the Cairo suburb of Maadi shortly afterwards. The explosion damaged two cars, yet left no injuries, the ministry of interior said.

This is the second wave of blasts to hit Greater Cairo in less than a week. A man was killed and seven others were injured in several subsequent explosions which occurred in Greater Cairo on Thursday.

Yesterday, a blast targeting security forces in Upper Egypt's Aswan governorate left two people killed and 11 injured.

Militancy inside Egypt has seen a significant rise since July 2013.  While the majority attacks target security forces in North Sinai, blasts have occurred in other parts of the country including Cairo.
