Egypt's Shura Council (upper house of the parliament) will vote on Wednesday on a government-drafted bill regulating political rights after amending some of its articles.

The Islamist-led Council had removed a clause that bans the use of religious slogans from the law that organizes exercising political rights, limiting the ban to discrimination based on religion, gender, or ethnic origins.

The Council, which is currently endowed with legislative powers, will refer the law back to the High Constitutional Court following its approval to be reviewed before adaptation.
