CAIRO, Aug 1 (Aswat Masriya) - An Egyptian court postponed its verdict on militant Mohamed Zawahri and 67 other defendants accused of "managing a terrorist group" on Saturday to August 10.

The verdict, initially scheduled for Saturday, is subject to appeal.

All defendants are accused of establishing a "terrorist" organisation in affiliation with al Qaeda. They were referred to criminal court by Egypt's top prosecutor in April 2014.

The prosecutor's decision said Zawahri led the Islamic Jihad militant group during the reign of ousted president Mohamed Mursi.

Zawahri, the brother of al Qaeda leader Ayman Zawahri, was arrested on August 17, 2013, about six weeks after Mursi's ouster at the hands of the military after mass protests against his rule.

In January, several defendants in the case including Zawahri were sentenced to a year's labour for insulting the judiciary during the trial.
