CAIRO, Apr 20 (Aswat Masriya) - Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri headed to Saudi Arabia late Monday to meet with his Saudi counterpart to explore regional issues of mutual interest, particularly the situation in Yemen and means to combat terrorism.

Shukri and Prince Saud al-Faisal are due to discuss the Syrian crisis, the situation in Libya, as well as the Palestinian cause, Egypt's Foreign Ministry said in a statement. They are also expected to explore means of strengthening bilateral relations, the statement added.

Several Arab countries are currently battling a wave of militant insurgency including Syria and Iraq, where large areas have fallen under the control of Islamic State fighters. Libya and Yemen have also fallen into the turmoil gripping the region.

In March, a Saudi-led coalition launched military operations against the Houthis in Yemen, after the Houthi rebel movement made advances onto the Yemeni south. Egypt's participation in the strikes has been limited to sending air force and naval force.
