Clashes erupted on Friday in Egypt's Mediterranean city of Alexandria between supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood and the security forces, wounding 15 people, said an Aswat Masriya eyewitness.

Protesters marched after Friday prayers, traditionally a day of protests in Egypt, and soon clashed with pro-army residents, according to the eyewitness.

Most injuries were caused by hurling stones and empty bottles. The army dispersed the crowds by firing teargas bombs at everyone.

On the other side, protests in support of Egyptian Defence Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi , who announced Mursi's ouster, staged protests in a different district of Alexandria, calling that he runs for the upcoming presidential elections. 

On July 3, Egypt's military ousted Islamist president Mohamed Mursi, who hails from the Brotherhood, following mass protests against his rule. Several clashes have erupted since then between supporters of the army and their opponents.
