CAIRO, Jul 26 (Aswat Masriya) - Six people were served death sentences on Sunday by a Cairo Court after being tried in absentia and convicted for several charges, including attempted murder.

They were tried for the break-in of the headquarters of a political party, located in central Cairo, in 2013. The party was founded by politician and former presidential candidate Ayman Nour and describes itself as liberal.

Prosecutors charged the defendants with show of force, arms possession and disturbing public order. 

Egyptian law provides a retrial for a person sentenced in absentia once he or she is in custody. 

In May, six people were executed at dawn by Egyptian authorities after being sentenced by a military tribunal, on "terror" related charges.
