SINAI, Jun 2 (Aswat Masriya) - Unidentified gunmen killed a worker at a cement factory and injured three more in an attack in central Sinai on Tuesday, medical sources said.

The worker received a gunshot wound to the neck, security sources said. Eye witnesses added that the gunmen shot at an ambulance transferring an injured worker to hospital, killing one worker and injuring three others.

Militancy inside Egypt has seen a significant rise since the military ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Mursi in July 2013, which followed mass protests against his rule. Most attacks occur in North Sinai, targeting security forces.

The armed forces responded to the militancy with an intensified crackdown on the Sinai Peninsula.

Armed forces spokesman Mohamed Samir said in a statement earlier today that a total of 141 suspected militants have been killed in North Sinai in the month of May.
