Egypt will reopen its border crossing with the Gaza Strip on Saturday for three days, allowing students and people with humanitarian needs to cross in and out of the Palestinian territory, Palestinian Ambassador to Cairo Barakat al-Fara said.

The Egyptian authorities partially reopened the Rafah Crossing on Wednesday for two days only, in response to a quest by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbass.

The authorities have closed the borders with the Hamas-controlled Palestinian territory following a deadly attack on an Egyptian military headquarters in Sinai, which left six army soldiers dead and dozens injured.

Egypt's crossing is considered the main window to the world for Gaza Strip's 1.7 million Palestinians.
