CAIRO, Feb 13 (Aswat Masriya) The National Alliance to Support Legitimacy, an Islamist group formed to back ousted President Mohamed Mursi, has called for demonstrations starting Friday under the slogan “Rabaa, the revolution’s icon”.

The demonstrations come to mark the passing of six months on the dispersal of the Rabaa al-Adaweya and the Nahda sit-ins where hundreds of Islamist protesters and tens of policemen were killed.

The NASL said in a statement on Thursday that the demonstrations are “to respond to the calls of martyrs” and are in solidarity with the wounded, detained and Islamist icons.

The group has been organizing demonstrations since Mursi’s ouster in July.

Egypt’s army deposed the Islamist president last year in response to mass demonstrations against his rule.
