CAIRO, June 1 (Aswat Masriya) Egypt's National Council for Human Rights has said that the prosecutor-general has allowed it to visit Abdullah al-Shamy and Mohamed Sultan, two prisoners who are on hunger strike. 

The visits are yet to be scheduled, the council said, adding that it plans to write reports on their conditions. 

Shamy, an Al Jazeera journalist, was arrested in August following the dispersal of a sit-in supporting ousted President Mohamed Mursi. Rights groups have warned that a hunger strike he entered on January 21 is affecting his health to a worrying point. 

Sultan on the other hand was arrested from his home last August when the authorities failed to find his father. He entered a hunger strike on January 26 against his confinement without charges.  

Activists and journalists have planned a demonstration on Sunday in solidarity with the hunger striking prisoners.
