CAIRO, June 13 (Aswat Masriya) Dozens of activists staged a protest in Cairo's downtown on Sunday in solidarity with the Palestinian people in the Gaza strip, who have been subjected to Israeli airstrikes for almost a week.

The protesters demanded the dismissal of Israel's ambassador to Egypt and the opening of the Rafah crossing permanently.

They held banners saying that the Palestinian resistance is not terrorism.

Leftist and liberal politicians Khaled Ali and Amr Hamzawy were among the protesting activists.

More than 100 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's bombing raid, mostly civilians, Gaza medical officials said.

Israel has described its strike as a possibly prolonged attack on Palestinian militants in response to Hamas rockets on Israeli cities.

The attacks started one day after the bodies of three missing Israeli teenagers were found dead in the occupied West Bank, who Israel said were kidnapped and killed by Islamist group Hamas.

The Egyptian Armed Forces will send 500 tons of food and medical supplies to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, an statement for the armed forces said on Friday.
