Police forces fired teargas bombs at Muslim Brotherhood supporters in Suez on Friday after the latter hurled stones at the police, an Aswat Masriya witness reported.

Allies of former President Mohamed Mursi and the Brotherhood attempted to access al-Arba'een Square in Suez but police forces at the square prevented them from reaching it.

Small-scale clashes erupted earlier today in Suez between residents and a number of Mursi supporters.

Mursi supporters organised a number of marches following Friday's noon prayer in Cairo and several cities to express their support for Mursi before his trial on charges of inciting violence begins next Monday.

Mursi and several Brotherhood leading figures are charged with inciting violence during clashes between supporters and opponents of the Brotherhood at the presidential palace on December 5.
