Unknown assailants opened fire on a wedding ceremony in a Cairo suburb on Sunday night, killing four people and wounding 18, security sources and state-owned media said.

The gunmen shot randomly at guests of the wedding, motives behind the attack were not revealed.

One of the dead was a 12-year-old child, who died from gunshot wounds, reported the Middle East News Agency.

This counts as the first attack on a church in Cairo since the army's ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in July 3, which instigated attacks on Coptic Christian properties and churches in upper Egypt.
