Fugitive Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohamed al-Beltagy said on Wednesday that supporters of the "coup" tainted the image of ousted President Mohamed Mursi.

In a recorded statement aired on Al-Jazeera late on Wednesday, Beltagy said that the Rabaa al-Adaweya sit-in has become a symbol of freedom around the world.

Egyptian authorities ordered Beltagy's arrest in recent weeks, accusing him of inciting violence, but have been unable to determine his hiding place since then.

"Our cause is just and we aspire to a decent life without internal or external guardianship," Beltagy said, telling Mursi's supporters to be patient because victory is coming soon.
