Bishop Morcos of Shubra Al Khaimah Church said on Monday that a group of Salafis (ultraconservative Muslims) surround the church of Abu Makkar which is located in Cairo.

"The church has obtained a licence from Shubra Kheima neighborhood to remove a violating building that falls between the service building of the church and the neighbors, as the removal was being implemented under the supervision of police forces, we found that the church is being besieged by around 150 of Salafis without a clear reason," Bishop Morcos told Aswat Masriya.

He pointed that the besiege of the church has happened before, "We reported the incident to the attorney general, we notified the officials, yet it happens again and everyone is silent about it."
