CAIRO, Dec 23 (Aswat Masriya) - Clashes broke out on Monday evening between dozens of Muslim Brotherhood supporters and central security forces in Tanta, an eyewitness in Gharbiya governorate said.

Brotherhood supporters hurled fireworks at security forces, prompting the latter to fire teargas bombs at the protesters to disperse them, the eyewitness added.

In Kafr al-Sheikh, clashes erupted between riot police and area residents on one side and a march for Brotherhood students on the other side.

The police attempted to disperse the march using batons, causing one student to be injured in the arm, an eyewitness said.

Ten people were injured in Assiut during clashes involving Brotherhood students at Assiut and Azhar universities.

Eight people were arrested in Assiut's clashes and one was severely injured. During the clashes, the protesters destroyed a police car and turned it upside down.
