CAIRO, Sept 30 (Aswat Masriya) - Egyptian security forces killed four "wanted Muslim Brotherhood members" in a gunfire exchange in Alexandria, said an interior ministry statement Wednesday.

The security forces say they stormed an apartment where "the four Brotherhood members were preparing one of their terrorist attacks" in al-Agamy district in north Alexandria. The shoot out lasted 15 minutes.

An automatic rifle, a pistol that was reported stolen and ammunition were found in the apartment, according to the statement.

The ministry accused the "cell members" of being responsible for the killing of a policeman and planting explosives near a police station, a courthouse and a postal office in Beheira, south of Alexandria.

Aswat Masriya could not independently verify the content of this statement. Anti-terrorism legislation imposes heavy fines on news organizations that contradict official statements.
