CAIRO, Dec 22 (Aswat Masriya) - President Adli Mansour ordered the formation of a national independent fact-finding committee to gather data and evidence on events that occurred during and after the "June 30 2013 Revolution".

Former international judge and law professor Fouad Abdel Moneim Riad will head the committee, the Middle East News Agency reported.

Egyt's former ambassador to the United States Abdel Raouf al-Ridi, international law professor at Ain Shams University Hazem Atlam, law professor at Cairo University Mohamed Badran and aide to former justice minister Eskander Ghattas will be members of the committee.

The fact-finding committee is expected to culminate its work within six months.

Its tasks will include gathering and documenting information and evidence related to the "June 30 Revolution" events in addition to taking testimonies , holding meetings and interviews, and analysing incidents that took place during that period and discussing their consequences.

Judge Amr Marwan was appointed secretary-general to the committee.

Mass demonstrations on June 30 had called for the removal of former President Mohamed Mursi from power. The protests continued until the army deposed Mursi on July 3.

The army announced a roadmap that included constitutional amendments as well as parliamentary and presidential elections.

Rejecting what they called the coup, Mursi's supporters and the pro-Mursi National Coalition for Supporting Legitimacy rallied to voice their protest against the former president's removal from power.

Hundreds were killed when the army cleared two Muslim Brotherhood camps by force in Cairo and Giza last August.
