CAIRO, July 26 (Aswat Masriya) - Egypt's prosecutor-general, Hisham Barakat, has referred 20 members of the "Soldiers of Egypt" group to criminal court on several charges including killing six security officers and one civilian.

Of the 20 defendants, 16 are detained while four are fugitives.

Hammam Mohamed Ahmed Attiya, 33, was charged with forming and running the "Soldiers of Egypt" group and founding it on extremist concepts that defy the state, the prosecutor-general's office said in a statement.

The "terrorist" group had declared itself responsible for bombings at Cairo University last April and for two bombings in Giza last February.

The group was formed following the July 2013 mass protests against former President Mohamed Mursi's rule and targeted police and army forces.
