Egypt’s Illicit Gains Authority has ordered that the son of Fathi Sorour, the former People’s Assembly Speaker under Hosni Mubarak, be detained for 15 days pending an investigation on charges of illegal profiteering.

The prosecutor accused Tarek Sorour of committing forgery and using his father’s political influence to make illicit gains, reported the state news agency.

The IGA dismissed the former parliament speaker after questioning on Monday on similar charges of corruption.

A Cairo criminal court released Sorour last October for exceeding the legal detention period after accepting his appeal in the “Battle of the Camel” case.
