Seventeen people were injured in confrontations that erupted between supporters and opponents of ousted President Mohamed Mursi in Ismailiya on Monday, reported the state news agency.

The injuries included seven cases of birdshot wounds.

Clashes erupted between the political rivals late on Monday upon a march organized by Mursi and Muslim Brotherhood supporters to Islamiliya's governmental office where they tried to raid it.

Another group of supporters also marched to al-Salheen Mosque towards the Shebeen al-Kom neighborhood, causing a traffic conjunction.

The supporters, who were headed to Sultan Hussein Street, attacked a store in the neighborhood with stones, leading to confrontations.
