Fire erupts at Cairo's conference centre

CAIRO, Mar 4 (Aswat Masriya) - Civil protection forces flocked to Cairo's conference centre in Nasr City on Wednesday afternoon to put out a fire which erupted there, where a military aircraft assisted with controlling the flames. 

Twenty-two people were injured in the fire, reported state television, citing the Health Ministry.

Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said seven of those injured were transferred to hospital, while the remaining were treated at the scene, reported state television. 

Interior Ministry Spokesman Hany Abdel Latif told state television that civil protection forces have "completely" put out the fire.

The Health Ministry sent 20 ambulances to the scene of the fire.

Sixteen fire trucks were sent to the scene , reported state-run al-Ahram. 

The armed forces meanwhile sent 25 fire trucks to extinguish the fire, reported the state agency MENA.
