Egypt's Interior Ministry said on Monday it has not and will not let down the Egyptians who rallied to express their beliefs in a manner that dazzled the world.

The police renewed its commitment to protect citizens, secure vital facilities, and guarantee the safety of demonstrators.

In a statement it issued, the ministry said that the police belongs to the people.

The police stands at one distance from all political powers, the statement added.

Egypt's Armed Forced issued earlier on Monday a statement calling on all powers to reach a consensus within 48 hours or the Armed Forces will then announce a roadmap for the future.
