CAIRO, Oct 9 (Aswat Masriya)- A conscript was injured Friday when an Improvised Explosive device (IED) went off in the vicinity of a police station in 6th October City, said Interior Ministry on Friday.
The bomb exploded as a security squad passed in the area. The conscript sustained minor injuries.
Civil protection forces headed to the scene and combed the area, added a statement by the ministry.
Security forces are fighting a nationwide insurgency as militancy inside Egypt has seen significant rise since the ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in July 2013, following mass protests against his rule.
Most attacks target security forces in North Sinai.
