CAIRO, April 18 (Aswat Masriya) - Security forces in Alexandria disbanded a march for supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood on Friday.

The forces intervened and disperse the marching demonstrators after the latter had clashed with members of an opposing group, head of Alexandria's investigations unit, Major General Nasser al-Abd, told Aswat Masriya.

Police forces arrested five Brotherhood supporters and referred them to prosecution on charges of demonstrating without authorisation and taking part in acts of violence, Abd stated.

Five pro-Brotherhood groups marched after noon prayer from Abu Seliman, Hanoville, Amereya, Borg al-Arab and al-Awayed areas to protest against what they called the military coup that deposed former President Mohamed Mursi last July.

The demonstrators chanted against former Defence Minister and presidential candidate Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and demanded the trial of"the military coup's leaders".

The also waved the Egyptian flag and carried the Rabaa symbol while demanding the immediate release of all political prisoners and calling for justice.

The National Coalition for Supporting Legitimacy has called for staging demonstrations on Friday as part of its ongoing weekly protests.

On the other hand, a group of pro-Sisi demonstrators rallied in front of the al-Qaed Ibrahim Mosque after noon prayer to declare their support for him in the upcoming presidential election.

The demonstrators chanted in support of the army and the police and against the Brotherhood and Mursi.

They also called for taking strict legal measures against the Brotherhood, which had been labelled a terrorist organisation, and against Mursi, who belonged to the Brotherhood.
