CAIRO, Dec 1 (Aswat Masriya) A general prosecutor ordered on Sunday that Ahmed Maher, the founder of the April 6 movement, be released, but renewed the detention of activist Alaa Abdel Fattah for 15 days pending investigations into last week’s Shura Council events.

The general prosecutor had issued an order that the two activists be arrested and questioned over calling for a demonstration without obtaining permission from the authorities.

A protest law passed recently obliges protesters to inform the authorities of their plans three days prior to rallying.

Security forces dispersed a protest by the Shura Council last Tuesday, arresting tens of protesters.

The protesters had gathered to denounce a constitutional article that allows trying civilians at military courts and the disputed protest law.
