The Dostour Party on Wednesday called on its members and all Egyptians to join the protests 'April 6' movement has called for on its fifth anniversary next Saturday.

A party statement criticized President Mohamed Mursi's regime, saying, "What is disheartening is that celebrating this occasion coincides with a new wave of popular resistance against a regime that wants to build the same tyrannical state which the people toppled in their uprising two years ago."

The youths of the Dostour Party were at the forefront of those who were killed, injured and arrested in the violent clashes Egypt has been witnessing since Mursi assumed power nine months ago.

We will not forget our youths Gaber Salah, known as 'Gika', Mohamed al-Gendi, Mohamed Hussein, known as 'Mohamed Christy', Amr Saad and Mohamed el-Shafei , the statement said.

The party's higher board approved the decision of its head, Mohamed ElBaradei, to appoint political activist Gameela Ismail as the party's new secretary after her predecessor Hossam Eissa resigned last month.
