All train services will fully resume in Egypt on Friday, an Egyptian Railway Authority source told local newspaper al-Masry al-Youm on Sunday.

The authorities partially restarted the train movement connecting Cairo to the Nile Delta cities near the end of October, after being halted for three months.

The train movement was brought to a standstill on August 14 following the security crackdown on two protest camps in Cairo that were hosted by supporters of deposed Islamist President Mohamed Mursi.

Against the backdrop of the crackdown, Egypt’s interim President Adli Mansour announced a one-month state of emergency, which was extended for two more months, but cannot be extended any further without being put to a public referendum vote.

Mansour was appointed on July 3 following Mursi’s ouster by the military which was prompted by mass protests against the rule of the Islamist president.

The state of emergency is scheduled to end on Thursday.
