CAIRO, June 7 (Aswat Masriya) - Qatar's ambassador to Egypt will attend the evening ceremony marking the inauguration of President-elect Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, but will not attend the formal morning ceremony where Sisi will be sworn in.

The evening ceremony, held at the Qubba Palace, will be attended by hundreds of public figures, Egyptian officials and ambassadors to Egypt.

Saif Moqadam al-Boenain, the Qatari Ambassador to Egypt, arrived in Egypt on Saturday evening, one day before Sisi's inauguration.

Sisi, who won the recent presidential election with a sweeping majority of votes, will take the oath of office as Egypt's new head of state at 10 a.m. on Sunday at the Supreme Constitutional Court.

Ties between Cairo and Doha, the Qatari capital, have been strained since former Islamist President Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood was deposed last July.

In January 2014, Egypt recalled its ambassador to Qatar "in response to the rejected Qatari interference into Egyptian domestic affairs".
