CAIRO, Jan (Aswat Masriya) – Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is flying to Kuwait on Monday alongside a delegation of ministers in an effort to strengthen bilateral ties between both states.

Kuwait has been among the Arab world's strongest supporters of the military ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in July 2013, following mass protests against his rule.

Sisi's visit to Kuwait comes as a show of Egypt's gratitude and appreciation for Kuwait's supportive stance toward it, a presidential statement announcing the trip read.

The president is scheduled to meet with Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Sabah to discuss bilateral ties as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest, the statement read.

Sisi is also meeting the Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber al-Mubarak al-Sabah, Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Khaled al-Sabah and Parliament speaker Marzouq al-Ghanim.

Egypt's ministers of foreign affairs, petroleum, international cooperation and investment are accompanying Sisi in his travel.

Kuwait has pledged $3.7 billion worth of grants to Egypt following Mursi's ouster.
