CAIRO, April 27 (Aswat Masriya) Egypt's Revolutionary Socialists have announced their support for Hamdeen Sabahi in the upcoming presidential elections.

The group said it will not boycott and that it plans to campaign against Egypt's former army chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi whom it described as the anti-revolution's contender.

Egyptians will vote between Sisi and Sabahi in a presidential election in May.

The Revolutionary Socialists called on Egyptians to vote for Sabahi, a leftist politician who came third in 2012's presidential elections.

Sisi gained wide popularity after the ousting of President Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood last year.

Egypt's army overthrew Mursi in July following mass demonstrations against his rule.
