CAIRO, Aug 24 (Aswat Masriya) - Dozens of policemen in Sharqiya governorate in northern Egypt ended their strike on Monday upon agreement that their demands will be raised to the interior minister, state news agency MENA said. 

They had started the strike on Saturday in demand of the payment of due incentives and raising the occupational hazard compensation, as well as contracting private hospitals to treat them and their families. 

On Sunday, the policemen escalated their strike in reaction to an attempt to disperse them by Central Security Forces. They picketed outside the Sharqiya Security Directorate, the main security building and announced that they will occupy the building's yard until their demands are met.

The Director of Security in Sharqiya, Khaled Yehia said on Sunday that negotiations are underway to convince the policemen to end the strike, with the promise that their demands will be studied. 

Eventually, the two sides agreed that the strike will end and the interior minister will consider the demands to decide on them before September 5.
