An Egyptian prosecutor ordered on Saturday the arrest of four members of the April 6 youth movement for being involved in protests outside the home of the Interior Minister, Mohamed Ibrahim.

The activists are to be detained for four days pending investigations on charges of instigating riots, resisting authorities, insulting officers while on duty and disrupting traffic, reported the Middle East News Agency.

Hundreds of activists who belong to the April 6 movement have staged protests outside the minister's residence in Cairo demanding the quick release of detained members who belong to the opposition group who had been detained during the most recent clashes at Tahrir Square.

Security forces fired teargas to disperse the crowd as they chanted against the interior minister and the ministry's policy in dealing with protesters and political activists.
