Clashes broke out on Friday in Tanta between security forces and allies of ousted President Mohamed Mursi and the Muslim Brotherhood after the latter hurled stones at the police.

Police forces engaged with Mursi's supporters and fired teargas bombs at them.

Tanta witnessed violent clashes between supporters of Mursi and the city's residents last Friday. Two people were killed in these clashes.

The Brotherhood's allies gathered at the University Hospital and the Damati Mosque to stage a march after Friday's noon prayer.
