CAIRO, May 18 (Aswat Masriya) - Egyptian footballer Mahmoud Hassan, who is more often simply referred to as Trezeguet, went under the knife in an emergency surgery after a shoulder dislocation injury on Sunday night.

Trezeguet, who plays with al-Ahly, one of the country's most popular football teams was injured during a game between his club and the Tunisian Club Africa in the 2015 Orange Confederation Cup.

Ahly beat Club Africa 2-1 in a game played in the Egyptian port city of Suez.

The player will stay off the pitch for six weeks, Ahly's website said, citing the club's doctor. The doctor added that based on an X-ray there appear to be no complications in Trezeguet's injury.

Trezeguet joins a long list of Ahly players who have been taken off the pitch because of injuries, including a playmaker and a midfielder.

On Egypt's national team, Trezeguet will be replaced with Ismaili club player Amr Solaya, said Argentine Hector Cuper, the coach of Egypt's national team, on Monday.

Egypt is due to play against Burundi on Thursday in a friendly game.
